Kingston Lacy, situated near Wimborne Minster, Dorset, is a Country House and Estate now owned by the National Trust. The house was built between 1663 and 1665 by Ralph Bankes, the son of Sir John Bankes, a English lawyer and politician and a Royalist during the English Civil War. The Bankes previously lived in Corfe Castle, which was defended for sometime against the Parliamentarians, until it finally fell, and was ’slighted’, (destroyed) in 1645. Many keys from the doors of Corfe Castle can now be viewed at Kingston Lacy House!
